Biography

Val Monique is a Panamanian actress, singer-songwriter and bilingual voice-over artist (english and spanish). She is known for her trajectory amongst Panama City’s guilds of vocalists and musical theater performers.

In 2012, she was crowned as a KWC Panama champ for the first time, where she was chosen to represent her country in the KWC World Finals in Lappeenranta, Finland.

She also participated in 2019 and won the KWC Panama for a second time, which awarded her the honor of representing her country again at the KWC World Finals, this time in Tokyo, Japan. She was the first Panamanian champ to win the KWC Panama twice.

In 2023, she joined the KWC Panama organization as part of the production team for the national championship and was chosen as the Master of Ceremonies for the KWC 2023 World Finals in Panama City.

She has been nominated for her work in musical theater by Panama’s biggest Theater Awards, the “Premios Escena”, as "Revelation of the Year" for her portrayal of Wendla in "Spring Awakening" in 2013. In 2023, she was newly nominated as "Best Leading Actress" for her role as Agatha in the musical "The Unforgetables".

Among her most well-known roles are Velma Kelly from the musical "Chicago", Maureen from "Rent", Columbia from "Rocky Horror Picture Show", Rizzo from "Grease", Rebecca from Ruben Blades' official musical "Maestra Vida", Gigi from Benjamin Cohen's original musical "Rabanes The Musical", and also starred as Lia Castrellón in the Panamanian musical "Let’s Rock".
