KWC 2024 TURKU IS IN OCTOBER

The global karaoke year 2024 culminates in the second week of October. More than 60 singers are expected to represent over 30 countries at KWC finals between October 7th-12th.

KWC is the largest global talent competition. Preliminaries are held simultaneously in more than thirty different countries, and thousands of singers strive to reach their own national finals and finally World finals.

For most contestants the big prize is to be among the 50-60 singers who get a paid trip to World finals and become a member of this ever growing community, also called the international KWC Family. But eventually some of the contestants will win other prizes too, it is a competition after all.

A record number of participating countries have already signed up for the October World finals.

Luca Gargano, the producer of KWC for the past 10 years, is excited about the appeal of the competition.

- It feels especially great that a record number of participants are arriving in Turku and that Logomo will become the center of the international song festival. In addition to Logomo, the joy of singing will be experienced all over Turku throughout the summer and early autumn. This year, Turku is the karaoke capital of the whole world, says Gargano, who works for the Finnish karaoke platform Singa, the owner of KWC.

According to the city of Turku event director Antti Kirkkola, the city is hoping that the KWC finals could even be held in Turku for a few years.

- The wonderful surroundings of Turku and Logomo have aroused exceptionally high interest among international contestants. It's great that a record number of international and domestic karaoke stars are coming to Turku to show what karaoke can be at its best. I believe that KWC will also change some people's perception of karaoke, says Kirkkola.
