"Shut Up"
Performed by Kajo (Kjetil Andre Johannessen)
Shut Up” is a darkly pulsing yet hopeful track about fighting the voices within. Fusing modern pop with retrowave and a mix of genres, it blends vulnerable verses, a mirror-gazing self-check, and a shout-along chorus into a cathartic rise from chaos to resilience. A sonic release built for turning pain into power.
Verse 1
Gotta turn these voices in my head
Right down so I can catch my breath
Filter out that toxic energy
Pre
If I keep on breathing my own oxygen
It will be the reason that I break again
Why do I keep on doing this to myself (hey)
Chorus
Shut up
I wish I could shut these noises out
Need a louder sound to drown them out
Take some time to work it out
But I never get my head around it
Shut up
I wish I could dumb this darkness down
Find a brighter light, then I’ll shine it around
Take some time to make it right
But I never get to shout about it
Post (shouting - which will go with the shout above)
Shut up
Shut up
Verse 2
Can’t escape this battle right inside of my mind
Each and every thought I have, reminds me of the times
When I dress it up, stress it out, pretend that I’m doing fine
Pre
But the mirror knows, when I make a fake sweet smile
He reflects the words that break me for a while
Talk: Yet still I give that voice a front-row seat (hey)
Bridge
I’m gonna scream out loud
‘Cause I’m lost inside the clouds
Wasn’t made to take the strain
I’m just falling like the rain
But I’ll get back
Yes I’ll get geeeeeeeeeeeet back up again
I’ll burst back uot
But I’ll get back up and sa
Yeah, I’ll get back up again
Cos I will not be beaten baby
